Defense cites President Marcos' SALN business holdings during impeachment hearing

In the ongoing impeachment proceedings, the defense for Vice President Sara Duterte introduced President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s SALN, pointing to entries that appear to show ownership in several companies. Prosecutor Akbayan party-list representative Jose Manuel Diokno objected, arguing that the court could not confirm the document's authenticity or that it was actually filed by the President. Senator-Judge Francis "Chiz" Escudero permitted the defense to later annotate the record, stating the marking could be done at the appropriate time.

Defense counsel Vinluan emphasized that the SALN is publicly accessible and cited media reports, though Diokno maintained that public availability does not equate to authentication. Former Sandiganbayan Presiding Justice Amparo Cabotaje-Tang, who had testified that both the President and Vice President are prohibited from holding business interests, refused to answer the defense's follow-up question.
