Delhi marshals over 35,000 officers, including Pink Force, for upcoming Jantar Mantar protest

Delhi Police have deployed more than 35,000 personnel, including the Pink Force, to secure the city and restrict access ahead of CJP activist Abhijeet Dipke’s Jantar Mantar 2.0 protest.

In preparation for CJP activist Abhijeet Dipke’s scheduled Jantar Mantar 2.0 protest, Delhi has mobilized a security force exceeding 35,000 officers, featuring the newly deployed Pink Force unit. The police denied permission for the gathering, directing teams to detain anyone attempting to protest and earmarking six stadiums and community centres as temporary detention facilities. Central Armed Police Forces have been instructed not to bear firearms, whereas regular police are armed with batons and fitted with low-light body cameras to record any alleged misconduct.

The Union Home Secretary has called on all states and Union Territories to maintain law and order, prompting tightened checks at IGI Airport’s Terminal 3. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has closed entry and exit gates at select central stations, urging commuters to use alternative routes. Additionally, Rapid Action Force personnel staged a flag march from Mandi House Circle as part of the visible security presence.

Why it matters

The deployment shows the government's strong response to potential unrest and highlights heightened policing tactics ahead of a high-profile protest.
