Delhi Police detail security steps and metro closures ahead of Oct. 10 protest
The Delhi Police filed an affidavit outlining security arrangements, traffic diversions and limited mobile internet restrictions for the planned Oct. 10 protest at Jantar Mantar and other sites.
In an affidavit submitted to the Supreme Court, Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar described the measures taken to maintain order during the protest scheduled for Oct. 10 at Jantar Mantar and other locations in New Delhi. The force proposed to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation that 45 stations shut their entry and exit gates from 9 PM on Oct. 9 until 6 PM the next day. Traffic on key arteries was diverted from 6 AM on Oct. 10, with 88 flex signboards deployed to guide drivers.
Mobile internet services were curtailed in line with regulations, though fixed broadband remained unaffected. The police asserted that no illegal arrests were made and that lawyers, journalists and other professionals could perform their duties. Notices under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita were posted in designated zones, and signage around the Supreme Court was reviewed and removed as needed. Continuous monitoring of law-and-order and traffic conditions will guide any further actions.
