DGCA bans all flight operations from Uttar Pradesh schools during BRICS summit

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced a temporary flight ban affecting all flying-training organisations (FTOs) based in Uttar Pradesh, effective from 7 am on September 11 through 11 pm on September 13. The order explicitly forbids any take-off of aircraft, ranging from light and microlight planes to helicopters, hang-gliders and drones, during the period of the BRICS Summit-2026 in Delhi. The restriction is also applied to FTOs located in Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Himachal Pradesh.

Moreover, the DGCA has prohibited operations of light and microlight aircraft, as well as unmanned aerial vehicles, within a 300-kilometre radius of Delhi, and bans hang-gliders, para-gliders, para-motors, aero-models and all drone types within 100 kilometres of the capital. The Directorate of Flying Training described the steps as precautionary security arrangements intended to facilitate a safe and orderly summit at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. All affected parties have been asked to fully cooperate and adhere to the directives.
