EU Parliament lauds Taiwan's resilience and tech leadership in new security report

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked the European Parliament for recognizing the island's resilience and technological capabilities in a recent security committee report.

In a report titled "Findings and Recommendations of the Special Committee on the European Democracy Shield (EUDS)", the European Parliament identified Taiwan as a key partner in defending democratic values, media pluralism and information integrity. The committee noted Taiwan's advanced situational awareness, civil-defence drills and expertise in countering China's hybrid attacks and foreign information manipulation. It also highlighted Taiwan's leadership in high-tech development and suggested regular security dialogues with like-minded nations, including Japan and South Korea.

Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs thanked the Parliament for the acknowledgment and affirmed its intention to deepen cooperation on counter-information and hybrid threats. The statement referenced a 2025 visit by the EUDS Special Committee, during which chair Nathalie Loiseau met President Lai Ching-te and Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung to discuss resilience and FIMI issues.
