Feijóo outlines housing plan focused on legal certainty, supply boost and faster construction
Alberto Núñez Feijóo presented his housing strategy, emphasizing increased supply, stronger property rights and streamlined building permits.
Alberto Núñez Feijóo, the PP leader, used a televised interview to detail his vision for Spain’s housing market, blaming the shortage of homes, legal insecurity for owners and cumbersome construction procedures for the crisis. He said the government’s policies have made housing speculative and driven up prices, citing examples from Catalonia where supply fell and prices rose sharply. Feijóo proposes to increase the stock by a minimum of one million units, revive an anti-squatting law stalled in parliament, and introduce a land law that would limit the planning waiting period to 90 days after licensing.
He also highlighted the surge in evictions over the past eight years, estimating nearly 300,000 cases. The plan is positioned as a cornerstone of his platform ahead of the upcoming general election.
