Grindeanu slams Mureșan, warns against a Bolojan-style puppet government

In a speech to the Parliament’s plenary on the vote to invest the Mureșan government, PSD head Sor Grindeanu denounced MEP Siegfried Mureșan for endorsing EU measures that he says threaten Romania’s interests, notably the request to suspend PNRR funding and the signing of the Mercosur agreement. He blamed the MEP for extending one outlet political deadlock by refusing to submit his mandate, arguing that Mureșan cannot secure the needed votes.

Grindeanu warned that any new cabinet resembling former premier Bolojan would be a “Bolojan 2.0” that repeats austerity and disaster-prone policies. He asserted that PSD will vote against such a government and only support a formation that defends national priorities. The criticism also referenced past PSD successes, such as Romania’s entry into Schengen, contrasting them with Mureșan’s EU-focused actions.
