Mureșan warns street protests if Grindeanu returns to power at Palatul Victoria

Siegfried Mureșan, the designated premier, cautioned that Sorin Grindeanu’s return to the Palatul Victoria would provoke street protests, referencing the violent clashes that followed the adoption of OUG 13 on 10 August 2018. He warned that if his government does not obtain a confidence vote in Parliament, an early election scenario could become realistic, a prospect he favors over a two-year stalemate with a PSD-AUR majority.

Mureșan expressed a preference for a short electoral campaign rather than prolonged parliamentary deadlock. He clarified that his talks with President Nicușor Dan have been limited to the formation of the government he is now presenting to Parliament, with no speculation about alternative cabinets. The minister reiterated that one outlet focus is securing a positive vote this week.
