Grindeanu urges Bolojan to drop Mureșan as PM and seek his resignation

At a gathering in Reșița, PSD president Sorin Grindeanu urged PNL leader Ilie Bolojan to discard Siegfried Mureșan’s candidacy for prime minister and to demand that he submit his resignation. Grindeanu argued that Mureșan’s only political programme is to hurl curses at the PSD, indicating he has no intention to serve and is seeking to topple the parliament. He suggested that removing Mureșan would shorten a turbulent period and pave the way for a new nomination, noting President Nicușor Dan has rejected early elections.

Grindeanu called for a clear, European-aligned parliamentary majority to ensure stable governance, warning that a weak cabinet could fall within months. He also mentioned the need for a budget correction amid a critical economic situation and hinted at a possible collaboration with a right-wing PNL. The remarks came after Mureșan criticized Grindeanu’s standing within the PSD, labeling the party’s measures as ineffective against rising populism.
