Home Minister says Negeri Sembilan chief minister filed two police complaints over disputed proclamation

During a press conference in Port Dickson, Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced that the Menteri Besar of Negeri Sembilan has submitted two police reports, prompting the police to open formal investigation papers. He stressed that it is too early for further remarks and urged the police to handle the complaints without interference. The reports arise from a controversy over a purported proclamation dated Aug 3 that allegedly dismissed the state's Yang Dipertuan Besar, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.

The document, said to be signed by Ismail and four disputed undangs, was claimed to have been signed under coercion. Ismail maintains the proclamation is invalid because it breaches Article 10 of the 1959 Negeri Sembilan Constitution and did not follow required procedures. Police investigations are now underway.
