House prosecutors name forensic analyst Alexander Cabrera as final witness in Duterte impeachment

House prosecutors announced that forensic analyst Alexander Cabrera will be the last witness for the prosecution in Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial.

The House prosecution panel disclosed that financial forensic analyst Alexander B. Cabrera will serve as the final witness in the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, as stated by House prosecutor Chel Diokno on the trial’s 37th day. Senate impeachment court presiding officer Francis Escudero asked whether the prosecution would still present the NBI witness after Cabrera’s testimony, and Diokno affirmed that he is the last witness for the case-in-chief.

Court spokesperson Regie Tongol explained that the prosecution has filed a manifestation to drop Article III, the bribery allegation, meaning the focus will shift to Article II concerning alleged unexplained wealth. Friday’s session ended with Cabrera’s direct examination, and the defense is scheduled to cross-examine him on Monday.
