Houthi forces claim drone and missile strike on Saudi Sharurah base
The Houthi militia said it launched drones and missiles at Saudi Arabia's Sharurah military base, and Saudi officials reported injuries and damage in Jazan.
Yahya Saree, the Houthi militia's military spokesman, posted on X that the group had struck the Sharurah military installation in southern Saudi Arabia with drones and missiles, aiming at weapons stores and command-and-control facilities. Saudi officials later reported that the assault, which occurred in the Jazan region near the Yemeni border, damaged a mosque, several structures and vehicles, and left two individuals injured.
The Saudi Press Agency attributed the attack to the Houthis but gave no details on the projectiles used. This raid is part of an intensified campaign by the Houthis against the Yemeni internationally recognised government and its Saudi-backed coalition. The escalation comes as the region also faces new attacks in Iran, and oil prices have risen above $108 a barrel during the week.
