Hradec Králové coalition stays three-party after ODS rejects participation

The city’s governing coalition will continue without ODS, keeping a three-party majority and confirming Pavlína Springerová as mayor.

In Hradec Králové, the post-election coalition settled on a composition of 11 councilors and five deputy mayor positions, confirming Pavlína Springerová (HDK) as mayor and Lukáš Řádek (TOP 09) as her deputy. New deputies will be Kamil Podroužek (HDK), Kamil Kubica (Piráti), Dominik Žilka (STAN) and Martina Erbsová (Zelení), with one deputy post left vacant. ODS, which had sought to add four seats, pulled out after disputes over the nomination of Martin Soukup and the inclusion of Roman Chlíbka, as well as fundamental differences on developer-investment rules.

The three-party bloc will focus on projects such as rebuilding Benešova Street, revitalising the main square, expanding affordable housing, and improving city-company governance. Negotiations on the exact distribution of responsibilities are set to continue this week.

Why it matters
