India clinches silver and bronze as Sri Lanka takes javelin gold at Asian Games

The men's javelin final at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games saw Yashvir Singh improve his career best to 85.72 m on his last attempt, earning the silver medal for India. Rohit Yadav posted an 84.35 m throw in the third round, which was enough for bronze. Sri Lankan athlete Rumesh Pathirage claimed gold with an 88.55 m throw in his final round, edging out the Indian duo.

The event was notable for the absence of defending champion Neeraj Chopra, who pulled out after suffering an ankle ligament injury. Both Indian throwers had returned from recent surgeries, with Singh having had shoulder surgery and Yadav recovering from an elbow ligament operation. Their medals continue India's streak of double podium finishes in men's javelin at consecutive Asian Games.
