Julbert Que Wins Tawi-Tawi 1st District Seat in First BARMM Parliament Election

In the historic first election for the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Parliament, former Bongao vice mayor Julbert Que emerged as the winner for the province's 1st District, earning 49,129 votes out of 71,260 registered voters. The result, based on 80.35% of election returns. Que's main opponent, Shirmal Hajim Sabal of the United Bangsamoro Justice Party and former provincial director of the BARMM Ministry of Science and Technology, garnered only 2,420 votes, leaving him unable to close the gap.

The victory places Que alongside his brothers—Bongao mayor Jasper Que and vice mayor Jimuel Que—within the regional administration. He will serve a special five-year transition term from October 30 2026 to June 30 2031, becoming one of 32 district representatives that compose 40% of the 80-member parliament.
