Kyiv bridges face severe traffic limits after drone strike on South Bridge

Both sides of Kyiv's South Bridge are fully closed to traffic, while the Paton Bridge sees a complete restriction on right-to-left bank flow.

A drone strike on Kyiv's South Bridge has led to a total closure of the crossing on both sides, halting all vehicular movement. On the Paton Bridge, authorities have imposed a complete ban on traffic moving from the right bank to the left bank, while other bridges also face constraints; the Metro Bridge now permits only one lane from left to right, and surface transport on the Paton Bridge remains severely limited. During the attack, a metro train crossed the South Bridge without any passengers or driver being harmed.

After the impact, surface public transport on the bridge resumed, but metro operations have stayed suspended as engineers inspect the structure. City officials are monitoring the situation and working to restore full service.

Why it matters

The closures disrupt daily commutes and highlight the vulnerability of Kyiv's transport infrastructure to attacks.
