Lezsák’s Lakitelek cultural hub to host Fidesz-KDNP faction meeting amid state funding scrutiny
The Hungarikum Liget complex in Lakitelek, owned by the Szeged-Csanádi Püspökség, will host the Fidesz-KDNP parliamentary faction meeting, with all investments financed from public money.
Hungarikum Liget, a 27-hectare cultural and leisure park in Lakitelek, was developed by the Szeged-Csanádi Püspökség and is set to host the Fidesz-KDNP parliamentary faction meeting. Lezsák Sándor, the project’s initiator, highlights facilities such as a four-star hotel, wellness pool, foot-golf course, a wine-cathedral and a planetarium, all financed exclusively with public money. The bishop, Kiss-Rigó László, who has a longstanding relationship with Orbán Viktor, is linked to the complex’s ownership.
The Népfőiskola Alapítvány, which runs the site, received billions in state funding and operates several nonprofit institutes. After a reshuffle, Lezsák’s daughter, Lezsák Anna, took his parliamentary seat and her husband now manages the hotel, providing catering for the meeting. Minister Tarr Zoltán announced a review of the public-funded contracts between the foundation and the culture ministry, raising questions about the use of state resources for the project.
