Magnitude 5.2 quake hits West Lombok region, no tsunami warning issued

A 5.2-magnitude earthquake struck the West Lombok Regency area on October 7, 2026, and authorities say it poses no tsunami risk.

On October 7, 2026, at 04:15 WITA, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake occurred beneath West Lombok Regency in West Nusa Tenggara. BMKG’s Mataram Geophysics Station head Sumawan indicated the epicenter lay 92 km deep at 8.77°S latitude and 116.14°E longitude, roughly nine kilometres southeast of the regency. While the shaking was reported across Lombok and Sumbawa islands, the agency confirmed there is no tsunami threat and no injuries or structural damage have been reported so far.

Authorities have asked the public to remain calm and to refrain from sharing unverified reports. The event underscores the region’s seismic activity but, for now, appears to have caused minimal impact.
