Manchester City squad eager for Enzo Fernandez's arrival ahead of debut

Several City players asked whether Enzo Fernandez was joining before the deadline, and manager Enzo Maresca says the Argentine is set to debut against Coventry.

As the transfer window closed, several Manchester City players inquired about the status of Enzo Fernandez's move, indicating strong enthusiasm to have him in the squad. The Argentine midfielder completed a £125 million transfer from Chelsea, matching the British record, on deadline day. Manager Enzo Maresca affirmed that Fernandez is prepared to make his debut in the upcoming Premier League fixture against Coventry City at the Etihad Stadium.

Maresca praised Fernandez's winner's mindset, citing his recent World Cup and Club World Cup successes. He also noted that Ruben Dias will retain the City captaincy, while other leaders include Erling Haaland, Marc Guehi and Gianluigi Donnarumma. The club's record-breaking £458 million spending spree this window also brought in midfielders Elliot Anderson and Ayyoub Bouaddi, among others.

Why it matters
