Masked attackers damage RN supporters' bus at Grenoble station

A bus carrying Rassemblement national members was assaulted at Grenoble station early Sunday, leaving windows shattered but no passengers injured.

At approximately 5 a.m. on Sunday, a coach loaded with Rassemblement national militants and sympathisers was attacked at Grenoble station in Isère. Masked perpetrators armed with iron bars or sticks smashed multiple windows, then quickly left the scene without causing injuries. The passengers were transferred to a replacement bus that will take them to the party's national congress in Orléans, while the vandalised vehicle was towed to a depot.

The Grenoble prosecutor's office, represented by Marianne Thirard, opened a case for aggravated voluntary violence and destruction of another's property, assigning the investigation to the Service local de la police judiciaire de Grenoble. No arrests have been reported so far. The RN congress proceeds in Orléans, following Jordan Bardella's re-election as party leader.

Why it matters

The incident highlights security risks and heightened tensions surrounding the RN's national congress.

How the sides frame it

MODERATE AGREEMENT

RIGHT

The right emphasises
