Max Verstappen admits he seriously considered quitting Formula 1 before re-signing
Four-time champion Max Verstappen said he seriously thought about leaving Formula 1, but his passion for racing kept him on board with Red Bull.
Max Verstappen, the four-time world champion, disclosed that he had seriously weighed retirement from Formula 1 prior to finalising his latest contract with Red Bull. Speaking to a Sunday newspaper, he said his affection for racing prevented him from taking the final step. Verstappen added that he was nearer to quitting than to moving to another team, even though discussions with other outfits had occurred.
He confirmed his commitment to stay with Red Bull, whose previous agreement ran until the end of 2028. This season, the Dutch driver sits sixth in the drivers' championship after 13 of 23 races, trailing leader Andrea Antonelli. He also commented on criticism about his contract extension, stating that outside opinions do not affect him.
