Minister says government will fund utility price cuts and home-renovation scheme through 2027
Economic and Energy Minister Kapitány István announced that the state budget will support continued utility price reductions and launch a home-renovation assistance program.
Economic and Energy Minister Kapitány István used a Facebook video, set to the Arctic Monkeys track “Do I Wanna Know,” to detail the government's fiscal plan for sustaining utility price cuts through 2027. He indicated that a sizable share of the next budget will be dedicated to maintaining lower electricity and gas rates, arguing that the numbers presented by the ruling party are straightforward. Kapitány also unveiled a home-renovation initiative slated to run until 2030, intended to assist hundreds of Hungarian families in reducing their energy expenses while spurring construction activity through new orders.
He stressed that the measures aim to protect citizens even as EU energy market conditions deteriorate. The announcement formed part of a broader budget presentation that also featured increases to family benefits and pension minimums.
