Najib Razak and family confronted with more than RM21 billion in fines and tax claims

Former prime minister Najib Razak and his family are confronting financial liabilities exceeding RM21 billion across criminal, civil and tax matters. Najib was fined RM11.38 billion for four abuse-of-power counts and 21 money-laundering counts, plus a RM2.08 billion recoverable payment linked to those charges. A High Court judgment requires him to pay roughly RM5.25 billion to SRC International, though execution is stayed pending appeal.

The Inland Revenue Board claims an additional RM1.69 billion in income-tax arrears for the years 2011-2017, with bankruptcy proceedings paused pending his tax appeal. His wife, Rosmah Mansor, received a RM970 million fine after a corruption conviction and must also repay RM67.46 million for jewellery not returned, while her appeal is pending. Their son, Nazifuddin, is liable for a RM37.6 million tax claim, with his bankruptcy also stayed pending appeal.
