Nancy dela Rosa thanks supporters and pleads for protection of husband

Nancy dela Rosa expressed gratitude to her husband's backers and asked that he not be treated as an enemy, while he remains in hiding after an ICC arrest warrant.

Nancy dela Rosa used social media to acknowledge the millions who still stand behind her husband, Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa, and appealed to influential allies to recognize he is not an enemy of the state. Bato has been on the run since the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant on November 6, 2025 for alleged crimes against humanity linked to the Duterte administration's drug campaign. After briefly appearing in the Senate and escaping with Senator Robin Padilla's help, he is now believed to be in Mindanao under the protection of a local group.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government offered a P50-million reward, describing him as armed and dangerous. President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and senior officials have urged a non-violent approach, with some senators pressing the president to negotiate a peaceful surrender. Interior Secretary Juanito Victor "Jonvic" Remulla warned that a forceful arrest could result in many deaths, preferring dialogue first.

Why it matters

The case highlights tensions between international justice efforts and domestic political dynamics in the Philippines.
