NBI chief says probe covers many flood projects, invites complaint on his wife

During the plenary budget deliberations, NBI Director Melvin Matibag clarified that the agency’s inquiry into alleged irregular flood-control works spans multiple provinces, citing ongoing cases in Bulacan, Mindoro, Pampanga, Tarlac and Cebu City, and is not limited to Davao City. He explained that subpoenas were issued to regional directors, district engineers and contractors, and that Rep. Paolo Duterte was not among those summoned.

Responding to Duterte’s call for a probe into projects linked to Rep. Anne Matibag, Matibag said the NBI investigates any evidence presented, but urged the lawmaker to lodge a formal complaint if he possesses proof, possibly with another government body. He affirmed confidence in his wife’s ability to address any allegations. The statement underscores the broader scope of the investigation and the procedural steps for filing complaints.
