New Emerson poll shows Democrat Adam Hamilton edging ahead of Sen. Roger Marshall in Kansas

A recent Emerson College poll of 750 likely voters puts Democrat Adam Hamilton ahead of incumbent Republican Sen. Roger Marshall by two points in the Kansas Senate contest, with Libertarian David Graham receiving roughly four percent. Hamilton’s lead is driven by strong support among independents, who back him 43% to 27% over Marshall. The survey indicates broader disapproval of both Marshall, who holds a 41% favorability rating, and President Donald Trump, whose job approval stands at 40%.

Former GOP governor Bill Graves endorsed Hamilton, accusing Marshall of abandoning Kansas interests. Earlier polls had shown Marshall in the lead, and a Democratic-sponsored poll still favors the incumbent. Political analysts now view the race as a rare Democratic opportunity in a state that has not elected a Senate Democrat since 1932.
