Parliament to debate minimum wage rollout, refugee registration and Gaza aid

Today's Dewan Rakyat session will focus on the upcoming RM2,000 minimum wage, Myanmar refugee registration and measures for Gaza's humanitarian crisis.

During the Minister's Question Time, members of the Dewan Rakyat will probe several high-profile issues. Aminolhuda Hassan will seek assurances from the Economy Minister that the RM2,000 minimum wage, due to start in June 2027, will not trigger layoffs, inflation or higher costs for small firms. Jimmy Puah Wee Tse will ask the Home Minister to outline the two-year target for registering Myanmar refugees through the DPP programme, including expected numbers and rollout schedule.

Ahmad Tarmizi Sulaiman will press the Foreign Minister on Malaysia's strategic steps after three years of Gaza genocide, covering protection for Palestinians, humanitarian access, accountability and reconstruction. Other questions will target the Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister on 2030 power capacity, the Education Minister on reserve teacher appointments in Sarawak, and the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister on a study to close legal loopholes on ticket scalping. The house will then resume debate on the Supply Bill 2027 following the recent tabling of Budget 2027.
