Parolee Jesus Acosta arrested after FBI and NYPD hunt for three murder victims
Jesus Acosta, a 31-year-old parolee, was taken into custody by the NYPD after a joint FBI-NYPD search for the shooter responsible for three killings in Brooklyn and the Bronx.
A violent ex-con, Jesus Acosta, was apprehended by NYPD officers on Saturday after a coordinated manhunt involving the FBI. Acosta, who had been on parole following a ten-year sentence for assault and felony gun possession, is accused of killing three people: MD Yousef, a 44-year-old wings-restaurant worker in Brooklyn; Tayvon Shuler, 33, shot during a robbery at a Bronx bodega; and an unidentified customer shot at a Bronx deli.
The killings occurred within a two-day span in late August and appear linked to armed robberies. Authorities posted a combined $35,000 reward, and Acosta was found in a Bronx park, then taken to the 43rd Precinct where he made a brief public statement before being placed in handcuffs. A vigil has been organized for the bodega customer, and the case now proceeds through Bronx Criminal Court.
