PAS Delays Decision on Election Symbol as PN Suspension Looms Ahead of Melaka Vote

On 23 September, the Jabatan Pendaftaran Pertubuhan Malaysia (JPPM) announced a suspension of all PN activities following a complaint lodged by Bersatu.

The move comes after PAS ended its political cooperation with Bersatu in June and after new parties such as Wawasan, Pejuang, Gerakan and MIPP joined PN, while BN formed a pact for the Negeri Sembilan state election. President Hadi Awang claimed Bersatu automatically ceased to be a PN component, a claim Bersatu disputes. With the Melaka state assembly dissolved yesterday, the election must be held within 60 days, intensifying the debate over coalition symbols.
