Pochettino warns of a 'deception era' if City fined for financial breaches

Mauricio Pochettino, currently the United States men's team coach, expressed disappointment after an independent panel concluded that Manchester City breached 114 of 115 alleged Premier League financial regulations. He argued that any punishment—ranging from monetary fines to a points deduction or even relegation—will not reverse the perceived erosion of fairness in the league. Pochettino highlighted that while many clubs adhered to the rules, others, including City, appear to have operated outside them, creating a "period of deception."

He also referenced Tottenham Hotspur’s 18-month transfer embargo during his spell, suggesting inconsistent enforcement across clubs. Earlier, he called for Chelsea’s 2016-17 title to be stripped and awarded to Tottenham. Manchester City has not responded to a request for comment.
