PP asks judge to name PSOE as suspect in Leire criminal network case

The Partido Popular has filed a request with judge Santiago Pedraz to have the PSOE listed as an investigated party in the ongoing Leire case.

The Partido Popular submitted a document to judge Santiago Pedraz, who is overseeing the Leire investigation, requesting that the PSOE be designated as a suspect in the case. According to the PP’s attorney, the evidence shows the PSOE paid for the costs incurred by the criminal network associated with Leire Díez, known as the “fontanera de Ferraz.” This network is accused of trying to sabotage legal actions that could embarrass Pedro Sánchez’s administration, such as the Begoña and David Sánchez cases.

The request highlights the PP’s effort to broaden the investigation’s reach. The judicial process is still ongoing, and the PP hopes the court will act on its petition. No response from the judge has been reported yet.

Why it matters

It could widen a high-profile corruption probe and intensify political tensions in Spain.
