Prime Minister says Anthony Loke's resignation letter has not yet arrived

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he has not yet received a resignation letter from Transport Minister Anthony Loke, responding to questions about the minister's announced intention to step down. Loke, the Seremban MP, offered his resignation after a DAP Central Executive Committee meeting on September 19, citing the conditional pardon granted to former Prime Minister Najib Razak. He indicated he would hand in the letter after returning to Malaysia from a trip to China.

Anwar made the remarks after attending the Universiti Teknologi MARA alumni gathering at the university's Dewan Agung Tuanku Canselor. He also addressed the Registrar of Societies' order that, effective September 23, suspends all Perikatan Nasional activities in connection with the upcoming Melaka state election, saying the matter should be referred to Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
