Prosecution seeks to reorder witnesses in Vice President Duterte impeachment, defense pushes back

The Senate impeachment court was asked to let the prosecution present forensic analyst Alex Cabrera before the BIR representative, but the defense objected.

During Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial in Manila, prosecutors requested that forensic financial analyst Atty. Alex Cabrera be called before the Bureau of Internal Revenue representative because the assigned prosecutor, Erwin Matib, is ill. The motion was made by public prosecutor and Bicol Saro party-list Rep. Terry Ridon. The defense team immediately raised objections to the proposed change in witness order.

Why it matters

The witness swap could influence how financial evidence is presented in a nationally significant impeachment trial.
