PSOE Sends Fake Email Pretending to Be Feijóo to Criticise PP Ahead of Election
The PSOE campaign team mailed a counterfeit message posing as PP leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo, using it to attack the People's Party before the vote.
Ahead of the upcoming general election, the PSOE’s campaign operation sent a deceptive email to Spanish recipients, masquerading as a communication from People’s Party leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo. The forged note lauded a supposed plan centered on “sacrifice,” while deriding PP proposals such as longer working hours, lower pensions, later retirement and private health-care options. It also mocked the idea of personal fulfillment being reduced to spreadsheet tasks and warned of endless waiting lists.
Only in the final paragraph did the message disclose its true origin, stating it was sent by the PSOE team to expose what they described as the PP’s hidden agenda. The email was accessed by El Debate, illustrating the use of misleading tactics in the pre-campaign period.
