Puripol Boonson ties Asian 200m record as Danish Iftikhar Roslee finishes sixth in Nagoya

During the Asian Games athletics program in Nagoya, Puripol Boonson of Thailand sprinted the 200 metres in 19.88 seconds, matching Xie Zhenye's Asian record from 2019. Boonson had previously set a new Asian Games record of 9.90 seconds in the 100 metres, confirming his dominance in regional sprinting. Malaysia's Danish Iftikhar Roslee posted a personal season-best of 20.89 seconds, earning sixth place.

The silver and bronze medals went to Huang You Wen of China (20.45) and Soshi Mizukubo of Japan (20.56) respectively, marking the first Malaysian podium finish in the event since Datuk Rabuan Pit's bronze in 1982. In the women's 200m, Singapore's Shanti Pereira claimed gold, while China's Chen Yujie took silver and India's Harita Bhadra earned bronze.
