Record Ticket Sales Ahead of Sepang's F1 Return as Circuit Declares Full Readiness

Sepang International Circuit is set to host the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix this weekend, having sold close to 100,000 tickets - the highest in its history. CEO Azhan Shafriman Hanif said only around 3,000 seats remain, available via the official website. The track claims it is fully ready, with most cargo and equipment already on site after a two-month sprint to meet F1 standards, a process that normally takes half a year.

SIC has been homologated as an F1 Grade 1 circuit and worked with Nad Mara and Met Malaysia to track air quality, even conducting cloud-seeding to reduce haze. A rain-making effort aims to keep the API level below the threshold that would force a postponement. The event follows a bilateral agreement that keeps the Bahrain GP on the 2026 calendar after its earlier cancellation.
