RN deputies demand resignation of Constitutional Council president over Le Pen clash

All Rassemblement National lawmakers except Marine Le Pen sent a letter to the Conseil constitutionnel asking it to dismiss its president, citing a breach of neutrality by Richard Ferrand.

On Friday, RN parliamentarians, excluding their leader Marine Le Pen, formally requested the Conseil constitutionnel to declare the office of its president vacant. They argue that Richard Ferrand violated the required impartiality and the prohibition on commenting on pending cases. The move is intended to support Le Pen’s demand for Ferrand’s removal, which she has voiced since Wednesday. Meanwhile, Jordan Bardella, speaking at the Paris Motor Show, accused the long-time Macron ally of undermining the rule of law.

Why it matters

It shows a rare parliamentary push to oust a top constitutional official, highlighting deep political rifts in France.
