Romanian premier orders tighter security after Russia-linked sabotage at Brașov industrial site

Prime Minister Luca Niculescu said Romanian authorities have reinforced guard at strategic facilities following a sabotage incident in Brașov that was linked to Russia.

Romanian Prime Minister Luca Niculescu announced that guard details at key strategic locations have been strengthened after a sabotage event at the Carfil industrial platform in Brașov, which the SRI says was orchestrated by a Russian network. In a joint press conference with Moldovan Prime Minister Vasile Tofan, Niculescu commended the swift actions of the Ministry of Interior, SRI and DIICOT, confirming that three foreign suspects - two Belarusians and one Ukrainian - have been identified, with two detained in Germany and the third located in Poland.

He detailed that extra security protocols are now in place at strategic facilities and called on citizens to remain alert. Niculescu also asserted that several other planned incidents were prevented thanks to the rapid response. The incident involved a fire that damaged an industrial hall housing auto services, an ITP station and a car wash.
