Russian airstrikes hit several Ukrainian cities, killing at least five people
Intense Russian attacks struck Odesa, Izmail, Dnipropetrovsk and Kropyvnytskyi, causing civilian deaths and damage to residential and commercial buildings.
Ukrainian officials said Russian airstrikes hit multiple locations across the country on Thursday. In the south, Governor Oleh Kiper confirmed that two apartment blocks and an office tower in Odesa were hit. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed it targeted the Black Sea port of Izmail and two cargo vessels en route to Odesa.
Further south, two civilians died in a strike on the Dnipropetrovsk region, and the attack sparked fires in several private homes in Pavlohrad. Meanwhile, the central city of Kropyvnytskyi experienced intense bombing, with local authorities reporting at least three deaths. Governor Andrij Rajkovytsj noted that the assaults are ongoing and that Ukraine’s limited air-defence capability hampers interception of incoming missiles and drones.
Why it matters
