A massive Russian drone offensive against Ukraine was observed from Tulcea, Romania, when an aerial object crossed into Romanian airspace over Ceatalchioi on the night of 27 September. Two F-16 aircraft from the 86th Air Base in Borcea were launched to track the intrusion, and a RO-Alert message was broadcast to residents of Tulcea County. Radar data showed the target disappearing roughly ten minutes later near the village of Somova, and the alert was cancelled at 22:05.
Ukrainian authorities reported eight fatalities from the broader Russian attacks, which included thousands of drones, missiles and bombs over the past week. Local footage captured explosions and bright lights in the sky, while the city of Izmail across the Danube experienced intense strikes. Additional casualties were reported in various Ukrainian regions, including a children's centre in Sumî and civilian injuries in Kyiv.
