Russian missile strikes near Kyiv kill three, including a child, and wound three others

Russian missile strikes in the outskirts of Kyiv killed three people, one of them a child, and wounded three others, according to Tymur Tkachenko, head of the Boryspil regional administration. The missiles hit three separate locations in the Boryspil district on Saturday, prompting explosions and fires that later spread to two central Kyiv districts after air-raid warnings were issued. Ukraine’s depleted air-defence network, reliant on a limited number of US-supplied Patriot systems, was unable to reliably intercept the high-speed ballistic missiles.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warned that missile supplies in the first half of the year were only a third of the previous year's volume, a shortfall he linked to the US-Israel conflict over Iran. Ukrainian officials estimate Russia can launch about 100 ballistic missiles each month and may increase the pace of attacks as winter approaches. At the same time, Kyiv has stepped up strikes on Russian logistics, including a Wildberries warehouse in Ekaterinburg, while the US Senate passed a sweeping sanctions bill named after Lindsey Graham, which Zelenskyy welcomed.
