Seven Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes across Gaza, officials say

Israeli fire killed seven people in Gaza, including victims of drone strikes, artillery and air raids, according to rescue and health officials.

Gaza's rescue service confirmed seven fatalities from recent Israeli attacks. Two people were killed when a drone struck a vehicle, and a third died after a drone hit a tent in a displaced-persons camp. A bombing of a residential block injured several and killed a woman and a child, and separate artillery fire also killed a woman in Gaza City.

Civil defence said another person was killed by Israeli fire southeast of Deir al-Balah. The Israeli army described the three targeted as members of terrorist groups and said it is checking details on the other four deaths. The casualties occur amid a conflict that began after Hamas's Oct. 7 assault and has displaced most of Gaza's population.

Why it matters

The deaths highlight the ongoing civilian toll of the Gaza conflict and the contested nature of target identification.
