SNP leader Doogan says Scotland will not wait for UK fixes, urges EU independence

At the SNP conference in Aberdeen, Doogan warned that Scotland will not linger for a decade of broken Brexit Britain and called for independence within the EU.

Speaking to the SNP conference in Aberdeen, Doogan declared that Scotland will not endure another decade of a broken, post-Brexit United Kingdom, dismissing the Prime Minister’s and Labour leader’s pledges as insufficient. He mocked the Prime Minister’s geographic ignorance, linking it to a broader failure to grasp Scottish concerns. Emphasising that independence is essential to tackle the cost-of-living tsunami, Doorman said Scotland seeks a future respected by its larger neighbour rather than ruled by it, and that rejoining the European Union is the path to prosperity.

He contrasted Ireland’s fuel duty cuts and tax relief with the UK’s inaction, demanding immediate removal of VAT on petrol and diesel and a £300 energy-bill reduction. The remarks came ahead of a planned visit by the Labour leader to Scotland.
