South Korea clinches men's basketball gold, ending 12-year Asian Games drought

At the Aichi International Arena in Nagoya, South Korea secured the men’s basketball gold medal at the Asian Games, overcoming host Japan 67-57. Lee Hyun-jung, a former Davidson player, posted a game-high 27 points and 18 rebounds, including 13 points in the pivotal third quarter. The Korean side had already beaten Japan 100-83 in the group stage, but this final was a low-scoring affair with both teams shooting poorly early on.

South Korea’s three-point shooting surged in the third quarter, going 6-of-8, which helped them pull away. Japan’s attempts to close the gap in the fourth were thwarted, and a final steal by Jang sealed the victory. Lee joined his mother, Seong Jeong-a, as the second family member to win Asian Games basketball gold.
