Train drivers' strike persists as negotiations between NLF, Vy and Spekter break down
Talks between the Norwegian Locomotive Drivers' Union, Vy and employer group Spekter ended without agreement, so the rail strike continues.
Negotiations involving the Norwegian Locomotive Drivers' Union, the railway operator Vy and the employer association Spekter concluded without a deal, leaving one outlet train drivers' strike in place. The union said it had prepared a proposal for resolution, but the parties could not reach consensus. At present, 72 locomotive engineers are striking, disrupting ten rail lines across Østlandet, such as the Spikkestad-Lillestrøm, Stabekk-Ski and Drammen-Lillehammer routes.
The conflict originates from the recent merger of Flytoget and Vy, which created disputes over salary differences and the predictability of work rosters. While the union has not formally voted to intensify the strike, it indicated that an escalation remains a possibility if negotiations fail to progress.
