Turkic Foreign Ministers Call for Deeper Unity as Global Challenges Mount

During a side-event of the 81st UN General Assembly, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan addressed an informal meeting of the Organization of Turkic States' Council of Foreign Ministers, urging the bloc to act with a unified vision amid rising global and regional pressures. He presented Turkey's strategy to boost the OTS's visibility and operational impact worldwide. Participants, representing Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and observers from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Turkmenistan, also reviewed preparations for the 13th OTS Summit scheduled for Ankara on Oct. 29-30.

The ministers adopted a statement seeking observer status for the OTS at the UN General Assembly and calling for stronger institutional links with international bodies. In addition to the OTS talks, Fidan held a separate meeting with Organization of Islamic Cooperation Secretary-General Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed during the UN high-level week.
