Ukrainian drones hit Moscow outskirts, killing an 83-year-old and damaging Wildberries warehouses
Ukrainian drones struck the Moscow region overnight, killing an 83-year-old man and injuring several people at a Wildberries warehouse in Podolsk.
Overnight on Sunday, Ukrainian drones carried out one of the largest assaults on the Moscow region, according to the regional governor. An 83-year-old man died and several individuals were injured when a Wildberries warehouse in Podolsk was hit. The governor also noted damage at a second warehouse in Domodedovo, close to one of Moscow's main airports, and reported further hits on other locations.
Russia's defence ministry claimed it has shot down a total of 822 Ukrainian drones nationwide. Video from the scene showed a thick plume of smoke above the Wildberries facility in Koledino, about 45 km south of Moscow. Kyiv has been targeting Wildberries in recent weeks, accusing the retailer of handling military supplies as part of a broader effort to disrupt Russian economic infrastructure.
Why it matters
The attack shows Ukraine's ability to strike deep inside Russia, targeting economic assets linked to the war effort.
