Widower of slain Flying Doctor Service medic urges swift release of crash report
Muhammad Faiz Abdul Malik, whose wife Dr Ainul Baraah Kamarudin died in the Long Lellang helicopter crash, is pressing for a rapid final investigation report.
Muhammad Faiz Abdul Malik, 37, is urging the Air Accident Investigation Bureau to speed up the release of its final report on the September 8 crash of a Flying Doctor Service helicopter in Long Lellang, Ulu Baram. His wife, Dr Ainul Baraah Kamarudin, was among five fatalities, which also included pilot Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham and three medical staff: assistant medical officer Alexson Adit Henry, nurse Debra Moset, and nurse Jessie Paya Jok.
A preliminary AAIB brief indicated that the investigation is still gathering factual data on flight operations, standard procedures, and maintenance history, and it found no initial deficiencies in the aircraft’s airframe, upkeep, or pilot performance. Abdul Malik said he was told the final report would take longer to complete but hopes it will be issued promptly and with full transparency. He made the request today, emphasizing the need for clear findings for the families and the broader community.
