Zelensky discusses drone partnership and food security with Saudi Crown Prince

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he talked with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman about a drone agreement and food-security cooperation.

President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that he held a conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman covering a prospective drone arrangement and collaborative food-security initiatives. He stated that Ukraine and Saudi Arabia share sectors where joint efforts can better safeguard populations. In his nightly video address, Zelensky added that a team of Ukrainian officials is currently operating in the region, and that several aspects of the partnership are developing well.

He expressed confidence that reciprocal assistance will continue to grow. The two countries previously signed a military-cooperation pact in March, and Ukraine has accumulated extensive experience countering Iranian-designed drones over more than four and a half years of conflict with Russia, while also pursuing drone development deals with other Middle Eastern partners.

Why it matters

The talks could expand Ukraine's defense capabilities and strengthen Saudi Arabia's food-security resilience.
