Anti-terrorism court orders Imran Khan to appear at next hearing on FJC attack case
A Pakistani anti-terrorism court instructed authorities to bring PTI founder Imran Khan before it at the upcoming hearing, either in person or via video link, in the Federal Judicial Complex attack case.
On Monday, the anti-terrorism court in Islamabad, presided over by Judge Tahir Abbas Sipra, ordered that PTI founder Imran Khan be produced at the next hearing on the March 2023 attack on the Federal Judicial Complex, allowing either physical presence or video link. The case, registered at Ramna Police Station, also saw former federal ministers Farrukh Habib, Hammad Azhar, Murad Saeed and former senator Shibli Faraz declared proclaimed offenders after they failed to attend earlier sessions, prompting the court to request details of their assets.
Additionally, the court issued non-bailable arrest warrants for former Punjab Assembly deputy speaker Wasiq Qayyum and PTI member Hassan Khan Niazi. The proceedings were postponed to November 5. The original incident involved clashes between police and PTI workers during Imran Khan’s appearance in a separate Toshakhana hearing, with both sides accusing each other of shelling and arson.
Why it matters
